A drone must be considered as an aircraft having to operate in the airspace. Even if UAVs have already more or less flight assistance and safety functionalities, being able to manually pilot a drone will always remain mandatory.
Because it is impossible to predict the unpredictable in the aeronautical sector, the human element will always be there to make the difference.
This explains why many UAV regulations around the world have created drone pilot licences. Thanks to them, professional commercial drone operators are attested to be skilled enough to perform their duty. This ensures the safety of operations for third parties and in case of emergency situation (emergency traffic, GPS signal lost, motor lost, etc.).
AltiGator’s team includes DGLV-certified drone instructors (Belgian Civil Aviation Authorities), in addition to have a partnership with a drone training center in Belgium. This ensures a complete, approved and quality training.
Here are the different pilot training options that AltiGator can provide for anyone acquiring one of our systems:
- Full training: from 0 to RPL
This training is aimed at those having none or limited drone flying experience.
It follows precisely the official Belgian training process. In other words, it includes a theoretical part as well as a practical one.
Theory courses are providing all the necessary knowledge and tips in order to perform safe and responsible UAV operations, but not only. As a matter of fact, flight preparation is a key part of this training (weather, flight maps, etc.) as well as system management and maintenance. This part prepares students for the theoretical exam of RPL(R).
Practical training is performed on a small drone equipped with the same flight electronics of larger systems. Several flying exercises allow to practice the entire theory seen before. In the end, students are learning how to prepare a flight, perform it in the environment and manage their tools. This part prepares students for the practical exam of the RPL(R).
As the ultimate goal of this training is to provide the keys for drone operators to use their newly acquired OnyxStar, a transition training is also included. Flying with a larger and more valuable drone brings a few differences to take into account. This is why this transition phase is essential.
- OnyxStar take over
This training is aimed at those having already a good knowledge and experience of flying drones but not OnyxStar’s ones yet.
It provides all the necessary theoretical and practical knowledge concerning the use and maintenance of an OnyxStar system. It includes some lessons combined with on-field exercises. In the end, attendees are fully aware and prepared in order to successfully operate their OnyxStar drone.
- OnyxStar Maintenance
This training is aimed at those seeking knowledge, procedures and tips regarding the maintenance of their OnyxStar system in order to gain autonomy and perform first level operations.
This training is dedicated to those wishing to start photogrammetry operations using a drone and having already none to good knowledge in this professional domain.
